Description

The NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation Security Course is a public safety program bringing the outside world to the classroom for those interested in personal protection training. It teaches basic information and introductory skills that enable a person to develop a solid foundation of knowledge, training and experience for safe and responsible pistol ownership. Through a combination of classroom exercises and live-fire range training, students will learn how to select a proper handgun for self-protection, operate a handgun safely and effectively, understand the basic components of pistol ammunition, how to properly store a handgun at home or at the range, and participate in an exercise on how to react responsibly if confronted.

Course Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Allowed to work in the US
• No felony conviction

The NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation Security Course is the only course in the industry designed to teach individuals who are new to firearms how to safely handle, use, and store pistols in their homes. This course focuses on the primary benefit the student gets out of the course, which is learning how to use and store a firearm safely in their home.
